Arthur Horsfall

Artist.
Born at Winnipeg on 13 July 1915, son of ? Horsfall and Mary Emily Wagstaff, he studied at the Winnipeg School of Art with Lionel LeMoine FitzGerald and Joe Plaskett, and also at the Banff School of Fine Arts. He began working as a commercial artist and taught at the Forum Art Institute and University of Manitoba. His paintings are in private and public collections, and he exhibited across western Canada. In later years, he gained fame for paintings of Winnipeg buildilngs, many of which have since been demolished, and his realistic street scenes. Around 1975, he became a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.
On 16 August 1944, he married Katherine Borsa (1922-2004) at Winnipeg and they subsequently had four children, including Sandra Elaine Horsfall (c1945-1968). The family lived at 395 Sharpe Boulevard.
He died at the Grace Hospital on 14 October 1995.
