Memorable Manitobans: Gabriel Bessevog Hartman (?-?)

Building contractor.

He worked in St. James as a building contractor, responsible for the construction of several apartment blocks along Portage Avenue, including the Hartman Apartments (1952) and The Capri Apartments (1955). On 29 June 1940, he married Margretha Blanche “Margaret” Nelson (daughter of contractor Carl Nikolai Nelson) in St. James. In the early 1980s, they were living at Miami, Florida but their later whereabouts are unknown.
