Memorable Manitobans: Fridrik Hallgrimsson (1872-c1925)Cleric. Born at Reykjavik, Iceland on 9 June 1872, son of Hallgrimur Sveinsson, then pastor of Reykjavik Cathedral, later Bishop of Iceland, and his wife Elina Marie Bolette Fevejle. He was educated at the common schools of Iceland, Reykjavik College, then graduated in Theology of the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, 1897. Ordained 12 October 1888; one year chaplain of Hospital for the Lepers, Reykjavik; four years pastor at Utskalar, Iceland. Came to Canada, September 1903; pastor of Baldur, Glenboro, and rural settlements; resigned this pastorate in 1925 and returned to Iceland to do pastoral work at Reykjavik Cathedral.
