John Edmund Sydney Gannon

Lawyer, hockey player.
Born in Queensland, Australia on 19 February 1887, eldest son of Edmund Gannon (1847-1929) and Susannah Partington (1862-1949), he attended St. John's College and played with its football and hockey teams. He then worked as a lawyer with the firm of Keith and Gannon.
On 14 March 1914, he married Florence Catherine Beaton (1876-1957) at Holy Trinity Anglican Church and they had a daughter, Lucy Gannon (wife of ? Davidson). He was a member of the St. Johns Curling Club and the Winnipeg Hockey Club. In 1913, his team won the Allan Cup.
He died in his Winnipeg home, 248 Scotia Avenue, on 3 January 1919 during the Spanish Flu pandemic.
