Memorable Manitobans: Thomas Maunsell Galt (1921-2013)

Businessman.

Born at Winnipeg in 1921, son of George F. Galt and Muriel Julyan Maunsell, he served in the Royal Canadian Air Force during the Second World War then returned to Winnipeg and received a degree from the University of Manitoba. In 1948, he joined the Sun Life Assurance Company, eventually rising to the positions of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. He was also a Director of the Bank of Montreal, Canadian Pacific, Sun Life UK, and Textron Canada. He died at Toronto on 17 May 2013.
