Civil engineer, photographer.
Born at Winnipeg on 23 January 1939 to Elsie Kathleen McKay (1909-1996) and Christopher Lauraine Fisher (1908-1988), he graduated from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Engineering in 1964. He then followed closely in his engineer father's footsteps with his involvement in the original Red River Floodway construction in 1964 and continued his commitment to the project when it was decided to expand the floodway in 2003.
Interested his whole career in flood management, he was instrumental in the 1997 Brunkild dyke project, and again in 2011 at Lake St. Martin drain. He remained a member of the Hugh Munro Construction team right up until the day of his passing, and was respected by both industry and government for his wealth of knowledge and strength of personal character.
Sometimes referred to as the man behind the lens, he was never without a camera around his neck. He documented life and shared his images with others. He photographed a wide range of subjects, from the birth of a baby, to a loon floating on calm lake, to a shiny new piece of heavy earth-moving equipment at the Hoop and Holler Dam. He created video productions, where he was able to incorporate his love of music into his images.
In 1963, he married Gale Anne Fields, with whom he went on to have four children. Besides bis career and his photography, he enjoyed spending time at the family cabin at Gull Lake and gardening.
He died at Winnipeg on 12 April 2012.
