Memorable Manitobans: Leila Elma Emilia Farrell (1933-2025)

Curler.

Born at South Porcupine, Ontario in 1933, daughter of Elma and Jaako Luoma, she attended the North Bay Teachers' College then taught in a school at Balsam Creek, Ontario and the Royal Canadian Air Force base at North Bay.

She was married twice, first to Louis Johnston (?-?) and second in 1960 to Brian Michael Farrell (1933-2025) with whom she had three daughters and a son. She was an active member of the CFB Winnipeg Curling Club and curled at the Charleswood Legion. She was President of the Manitoba Ladies Curling Association (1989-1990) and received a life membership in CurlManitoba (1991).
