Memorable Manitobans: Victor Irvin Enns (1955-2025)

Writer, poet.

Born at Winnipeg on 3 April 1955, he graduated from the University of Manitoba. He published several book of poetry, including Jimmy Bang Poems (1979), Correct in this Culture (1985), A Poem of Pears (?), Lucky Man (2005), Afghanistan Confessions (?), Love & Surgery (?), Always Breathe (2025), and Mein Todesbuch (2026). He was the Executive Director of the Manitoba Arts Council for several years, co-founded the Rhubarb literary magazine, and helped to establish the Manitoba Writers' Guild. He died on 9 December 2025, survived by a wife and three children.
