Memorable Manitobans: Aganetha Dyck (1937-2025)

Sculptor, artist.

Born at Marquette on 12 September 1937, daughter of Suzie Bock and Jacob Rempel, she married Peter Dyck (1936-2020) and they had three children. In her late 30s, she began an art career and her work is held in numerous galleries and museums, including the National Gallery of Canada. She participated in numerous residencies and the Artists in Schools program of the Manitoba Arts Council. She received such awards as the Manitoba Arts Award of Distinction (2006) and the Governor General's Award for Visual and Media Arts (2007). She died at Winnipeg on 18 July 2025.
