Memorable Manitobans: Andre-Augustin Forget Despatis (1835-1881)

Cleric, educator.

Born at Terrebonne, Quebec on 30 November 1835, he studied at the Petit Séminaire de Montréal where he obtained his ecclesiastical degree. He arrived in Manitoba in 1871 and became secretary to Monseigneur Taché. He was ordained a priest on 13 January 1875, and was appointed Principal of St. Boniface College. He died on 9 June 1881.
