Memorable Manitobans: Theodore “Ted” Chornoboy (1912-1975)Businessman, municipal official. Born at Sarto in 1912, he resided at Grunthal and operated Chornoboy’s Farm Equipment. He was Reeve of the Rural Municipality of Hanover (1947-1951), President of the Ukrainian People’s Home, and a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. He married Luba “Lu” Nykyforuk (1921-2014, daughter of Stephen Nykyforuk) and had two sons. He died while on vacation in Texas, at Knapp Memorial Hospital in Weslaco, on 6 March 1975 and his body was returned to Manitoba for burial in the St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery.
