The creation of the Canadian Water Polo Hall of Fame in 2022 was the result of a long-term effort by David Holt and a group of celebrated Canadian water polo personalities in collaboration with Water Polo Canada. The sport of water polo dates back to 1886. The purpose is to recognize the outstanding achievements and contributions of Canadians to the sport of water polo in eight categories: athletes, coaches, officials, teams, builders, clubs, historical figures and distinguished alumni.
