Duncan A. Campbell

Farmer, municipal official.
Born at St. Thomas, Ontario on 3 October 1872, he came to Manitoba in 1890 and settled on a farm two miles west of Austin until 1945 when he retired to Austin then to Portage la Prairie in 1950. On 8 December 1920, he married Margaret A. McDonald (1887-1965). They had no children. He served the Rural Municipality of North Norfolk, first as a councillor for seven years, then as Reeve (1924-1937). An active Mason, he was a member of the Temple Lodge No. 48 in MacGregor (1898-1900) and later Temple Lodge No. 75 of Austin (1900-1963). He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Manitoba, serving as District Deputy Grand Master of the Second Masonic District. Receiving his 50-year jewel in 1948 and his 60-year bar in 1958, at the time of his passing, he was considered the oldest living Mason in Manitoba. He died at Portage la Prairie on 5 January 1963 and was buried in the Austin Cemetery.
