Memorable Manitobans: Angus Browne (1844-1922)Merchant. Born at Elderbank, Nova Scotia on 12 October 1844, he came to Winnipeg in 1879 and established a building supplies business, which he carried on until his retirement in 1918. He served 15 years as a member of the Winnipeg School Board and twice was elected Board Chairman. He died at St. Boniface on 13 August 1922 and was buried in the Elmwood Cemetery.
