Memorable Manitobans: William Brown (1790-1827)
Fur trader.
Born near Glasgow, Scotland, he joined the Hudson’s Bay Company in 1811. From 1817 to 1819 he was head of the Manitoba District. He then served in the Athabasca and New Caledonia Districts.
