Memorable Manitobans: Alvina Block (1936-2013)

Historian.

Born at Brotherfield, Saskatchewan on 9 June 1936, she met her husband Isaac Block at the Bethany Bible Institute. They moved to Ontario and worked at the Bethesda Home for the mentally ill and raised their family. They came to Winnipeg in 1981 where she completed a PhD in Canadian History at the University of Manitoba. She died at Winnipeg on 27 December 2013.
