Memorable Manitobans: Robert Dundas Bathgate (1837-1905)Merchant. Born in Scotland on 10 January 1837, son of Joseph Bathgate (?-1856) and Grace Hyslop (?-1874), brother of William Bathgate, he came to Winnipeg in 1873. He operated a wholesale business with Robert Gerrie. In 1882 he transferred to real estate, and later exported grain as well. His residence was designed in 1892 by Winnipeg architect Charles H.
