Municipal official, community activist.
Born on the family farm at Middlechurch on 17 August 1908, son of Joseph Balderstone (1868-1928) and Agnes Euphemia Cree (1875-1980), he worked for Bird Construction and Seven Oaks School Division in his early years, and also in market gardening. He spent 31 years in municipal politics, serving as Reeve for the Rural Municipality of West St. Paul (1969-1986). He served on the board for the Seven Oaks Hospital, a member of the West St. Paul Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the West St. Paul Curling Club.
He and wife Ena (?-2000) had a son and three daughters. In recognition of his community service, he was inducted into the Manitoba Order of the Buffalo Hunt (1986). He died at his home on 12 January 2001.
