Printer.
Born at Winnipeg on 18 October 1934, the youngest of five children of Henry John “Harry” Armstrong (1901-1980) and Olive Enid Talbot (1903-1994), his childhood was spent in Norwood. He attended King George Fifth School then worked for various printing companies.
With a $500 loan from his father-in-law, he and his brother Stanley “Stan” Armstrong (1929-2002) purchased a printing press and, in 1955, began operating Henry Armstrong Instant Printing out of his basement. In advertisements for his business, which at its peak in the 1980s and 1990s consisted of over a dozen instant-print shops around Manitoba, he was known as “the man who runs things in this town.”
In July 1954, he married Lucille Vieville (1937-2021) and they had a son and a daughter. In the early 1970s, he began working with the Salvation Army and added Christian bookstores to his printing business.
He died at Selkirk on 1 April 2025.
