Elmer Lee Alsip

Businessman.
Born at Decorah, Iowa in 1877, son of William Alsip and Harriet Augusta Alsip (c1838-1915), in 1898 he came to Winnipeg from Elimsburg, Washington to join the firm of Alsip Brick, Tile and Lumber Company founded by his father. He rose to the positions of Vice-President and Superintendent.
He was married twice, first on 10 April 1903 to Alexandria Black (1877-1912, daughter of Alexander Black) at Winnipeg and they had three children: William Alexander Alsip (1904-1944), Margaret Augusta Alsip (1907-?, wife of Cedric Robert Hopper), and Norman Elmer Alsip (1911-1929). On 2 November 1915, he married Lillian Harrison (1888-1963) at Birtle and they had three children: Frank Arthur Alsip (c1917-2009), Roy Harrison Alsip (1921-?), and Gwenyth Alsip (?-?, wife of ? Rattray). He was a long-time member of Crescent-Fort Rouge United Church.
He died at his Winnipeg home, 18 Ruskin Row, on 9 March 1941 and was buried in the Elmwood Cemetery.
