Conceived by Dr. Kenneth McKenzie, President of the Lake Winnipeg Navigation Company of Winnipeg, this 176-feet long ship was built at Selkirk at a cost of about $1.5 million. Intended primarily for recreational excursions, the ship accommodated 130 passengers. Launched in June 1969, the first Captain was Kenneth Lorne “Ken” Lyons.
