Ship captain.
Born at Medora around 1911, one of eight children of Frederick “Fred” Lyons (c1881-1954) and Florence Myrtle Mitchell (c1881-1980), his childhood was spent at La Riviere. During the Second World War, he served for six years as a Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Navy. In 1969, he was appointed the first Captain of the MS Lord Selkirk II and, the following year, he escorted Queen Elizabeth II and her family on a cruise on the Red River. For about five years before his death, he was employed with the Northland Freight and Forwarding Company. He and wife Beatrice Mildred Lyons (1917-1981) lived at 1676 Manitoba Avenue, Winnipeg. They had no children. He died at Gull Harbour on 21 September 1977 and was buried in the Brookside Cemetery.
