Lawyer.
Born at Winnipeg on 5 September 1894, son of Sinclair Balsor Ritchie and Elizabeth L. Gates (?-?), he attended Winnipeg schools, Wesley College, and the University of Toronto, receiving a BA degree from the latter in 1916. He then enlisted in the Canadian Expeditionary Force and served wtih the Canadian Army in England, France, and Belgium and with the British Artillery for three years.
Following his military discharge, he returned to Winnipeg and entered the Faculty of Law at the University of Manitoba. He graduated with an LLB degree in 1921 and was called to the Manitoba Bar in December 1921. He practiced law for 60 years, for several years in private practice and for 22 years until retirement as Administrator of Estates of the Mentally Incompetent for the Manitoba government.
On 24 June 1922, he married Josephine Eleanor Parkin at Winnipeg and they had two children: Jo-Louise Ritchie (wife of James J. Kelly) and Frank S. Ritchie.
He died at his Winnipeg residence, 2A Riverview Mansions (37 Balmoral Place)), on 30 December 1973 and was buried in the Elmwood Cemetery.
