Memorable Manitobans: Christopher Shaughnessy O’Grady (1939-2017)

Educator.

Born at Shoal Lake on 19 September 1939, son of William and Mary O’Grady, he was educated at the Shoal Lake Collegiate and the Manitoba Teachers’ College (1958). He began his teaching career with five years at St. Charles School, after which he was Vice-Principal of St. Charles School (1963-1965). He was then the Principal of Buchanan School (1965-1967) and Voyageur School (1967-1976), Deputy Assistant Superintendent of the St. James School Division (1976-1979), and Principal of Hedges School (1979-1987), St. James Collegiate (1987-1990), and John Taylor Collegiate (1990-1994). He retired in June 1994. He died at Winnipeg on 15 June 2017.
