Historic Sites of Manitoba: St. Ambroise Roman Catholic Church (St. Ambroise, RM of Portage la Prairie)

Originally a mission of the Roman Catholic church at St. Laurent, according to an 1897 parish report, there were 120 people at St. Ambroise in the Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie. It is unclear when the first church was built. A 1919 letter requested permission to build a church while a 1976 letter asked to replace the present church which it said was built in 1907. A fire destroyed the associated convent and rectory in 1958.
