Historic Sites of Manitoba: St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church (Sperling, RM of Morris)

After the closure of Waddell School in 1910, the former schoolhouse was moved to Sperling in the Rural Municipality of Morris where it was used as a private residence. In 1935, the district’s small Catholic community, which had been worshipping in homes since 1908 thanks to regular visits by the parish priest from Starbuck, purchased the building and renovated it into a church dedicated to St. Theresa. A dwindling congregation caused the church to closed in 1972 and, later that decade, the building was donated to the seniors of Sperling. In 1981, it was renovated into the Golden Corner Seniors Centre.
