This one-storey orange-red brick building at the northeast corner of Parr Street and St. John's Avenue in Winnipeg, measuring 28 feet by 40 feet, was built in 1925 by contractor Paul Popeil at a cost of about $5,000, for owner George Roshko (1888-1963). It was used as a neighborhood grocery store with a residence in the rear of the building.
In 1943, Roshko sold the store and became a real estate agent. Later owned by Nick Genyk (?-1997) and his wife Anne Genyk (?-1980), it was known ad Nick's Grocery, associated with the Red & White Stores chain. At the time of a 2025 site visit, the building was slightly modified from its original appearance with some windows bricked over. It was being used as a private residence.
