Historic Sites of Manitoba: Red River Ox Cart (Assiniboine Park, Winnipeg)

This sculpture by Roman Ivan Kowal, one and a half time life-size, shows a classic Red River ox cart, used as the basic form of land transportation throughout Western Canada in the 19th century. It was presented to the citizens of Winnipeg in November 1974, as a centennial gift from a local investment firm, and is presently located near the intersection of Corydon Avenue and Conservatory Drive in Assiniboine Park.
