On 28 November 1909, Jackson Methodist Church opened officially at this site in the Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie with a service conducted by Rev. D. M. Kennedy of MacGregor and Rev. W. E. W. Seller of Portage la Prairie.
The church building was a brick veneer structure measuring 24 feet by 36 feet with concrete blocks at its four corners. A minister’s vestry at the bottom measured 10 feet by 12 feet. The church was served initially by circuit minister Rev. John Hellyer of West Prospect Methodist Church. In 1924, the churches at Oakland, Prospect, and Jackson united.
This church closed in 1961 and its congregants joined Murray United Church. The building was removed but it is commemorated at the site by a fieldstone monument.
