Historic Sites of Manitoba: High Bluff Methodist Cemetery (RM of Portage la Prairie)

This site in the Rural Municipality of Portage la Prairie was owned successively by John Norquay and William Moss. In 1879, it was purchased for $1 from the Moss family to establish a Methodist church and cemetery. An associated manse was later moved into High Bluff and, in 1924, sold to become a private home. The unification of the Methodist, Presbyterian, and Congregational faiths in Canada, in 1924, led to establishment of the High Bluff United Church. A commemorative plaque inside the cemetery was erected in 2004 by the High Bluff History Book Committee.
