Built between 1845 and 1847, this stone building in the Rural Municipality of St. Andrews at the Lower Fort Garry National Historic Site has been restored to the way it looked in the early 1850s when Hudson’s Bay Company Chief Factor Donald Ross lived here with his wife Mary and their children. Over time, the structure housed many others, including Edmund Richard Abell (1826-1895), the HBC engineer at Lower Fort Garry.
