Historic Sites of Manitoba: Fletcher House (25 Cornish Avenue, Winnipeg)

This two-storey wood frame residence on Cornish Avenue in Winnipeg was built in 1907 by the construction firm of Germain and Son, along with the house next door. Its first occupant was William Anderson but it was soon purchased by physician Robert D. Fletcher and his wife Isabel. They remained in the house into the First World War then sold it to manufacturer’s agent Donald A. MacDonald. He and wife Clare lived here until the early 1940s when it was sold and converted into a three-suite apartment building.
