Historic Sites of Manitoba: Canadian Bank of Commerce Vault (Durban, Municipality of Swan Valley West)

A concrete bank vault, partially buried in the ground, stands in the village of Durban in the Municipality of Swan Valley West. At one time, it was situated inside a Bank of Commerce on the village’s Main Street. The bank building was later used as a pool hall and then a general store. It was destroyed in fire in 1960. A mound of soil in front of the vault’s entrance was placed there by the municipality to dissuade children from playing inside.
