Historic Sites of Manitoba: Chick House (549 Inkster Boulevard, Winnipeg)

This two-storey wood frame and stucco, Tudor Vernacular-style house is at the northwest corner of Inkster Boulevard and McGregor Street in Winnipeg. Measuring 30 feet by 36 feet, it was built in 1945 by contractor Fred Hilderman at a cost of about $7,500, for owner Charles C. Chick. He was the proprietor of the Chick Lumber and Fuel Company.

Subcontractors included G. F. Beitz and Company (plumbing and sewers) and the Chick Lumber and Fuel Company (lumber and building supplies).

At the time of a 2026 site visit, the house was relatively unmodified from its original appearance.
