Manitoba Communities: Stanley (Rural Municipality)

Established in 1890 from parts of the former South Dufferin County and North Dufferin County, this municipality was named for Baron Stanley of Preston who was Governor General of Canada from 1888 to 1893. He donated the Stanley Cup to recognize excellence in the sport of hockey.
