MHS Centennial Business: Dufferin Leader / Valley Leader (Carman)

The newspaper began as The Dufferin Leader in Carman, established in 1897 by John W. Jamieson. The first issue, dated 3 March 1898, announced: “We are sending out three editions of the Leader on trial, and trust that at the end of that time those who receive it will have formed a favourable opinion of the manner in which it is conducted...” In 1976 the name was changed to the Valley Leader. The newspaper was closed in May 2020.
