MHS Centennial Business: Dufferin Leader / Valley Leader (Carman)

The newspaper began as The Dufferin Leader in Carman, established in 1897 by John W. Jamieson. The first issue, dated 3 March 1898, announced: “We are sending out three editions of the Leader on trial, and trust that at the end of that time those who receive it will have formed a favourable opinion of the manner in which it is conducted...” In 1976 the name was changed to the Valley Leader.

Designated as an MHS Centennial Business, the newspaper closed in May 2020.
