Manitoba Business: Prairie Cities Oil Company

This company was incorporated in 1929 to acquire the business of its predecessor company, the Prairie City Oil Company that had been established in 1904. its initial directors were Albert E. Lewis (President and General Manager), W. A. Arnold (Manitoba Steel Foundries), R. A. Graham (Ashdown Hardware), D. I. McLeod (McLeod Young Weir & Company), Henry Eugene Sellers, E. P. Taylor (McLeod Young Weir & Company), and Walter F. Thorn (Imperial Lumber Yards). The company operated automotive service stations around Manitoba.

In February 1938, the company’s assets was acquired by North Star Oil Company and its service stations and office building were reopened under the North Star Oil banner by late 1938.
