Manitoba Business: Alloway and Champion Bank

In 1879, this Winnipeg-based firm was established by William Forbes Alloway and Henry Thomson Champion as the first private bank in the city. By 1912, it had become the largest private bank in Canada. Its assets were transferred to the Canadian Bank of Commerce in December 1923.
