This school on Grey Street in Winnipeg was designed by the architectural firm of Smith Carter and Katelnikoff and built in 1957 for the East Kildonan School District #14 at a cost of about $120,000. It was officially opened on 27 September 1957 by members of the East Kildonan School Board and Principal Anna Mima McIntyre. Its original configuration of eight classrooms hosted elementary students.
In 1967, it became part of the River East School Division. Renovations were undertaken in 1978 under designs of the architectural firm Macdonald, Cockburn, McLeod, and McFeetors.
