The Hoffnungsort School District was established in September 1893 and operation of a one-room schoolhouse at NE28-3-3W in what is now the Municipality of Rhineland began in 1895. The district ceased operation in the summer of 1900 and it received no further provincial grant funding, with both the districts name and number struck from department annual registers for the next two decades. During this time, limited information suggests the school may have continued to operate privately for at least part of that span.
Starting with the Fall term of 1920, the district was reactivated with its original name and numerical designation. Improvements to the districts educational facilities were subsequently undertaken, including a $5,000 debenture issued in December 1920 to fund construction of a new school and teacherage. The teacherage measured 22 feet by 22 feet, featured four rooms, and was completed by way of a second debenture, for $500, issued in June 1924. In July 1948, a $3,000 debenture financed the replacement of the teacherage, with a new building to replace teachers residence.
Among the earliest staff of Hoffnungsort School were Franz Loewen (Fall 1895), Frank Siemens (Spring-Fall 1896), F. F. Siemens (Spring 1897), C. [C/E?] Enns (Fall 1897 - Fall 1898), Henry Hamm (Spring 1899), and John H. Enns (Fall 1899 - Spring 1900).
Among the later teachers of Hoffnungsort School were John S. Schellenberg (Fall 1920 - Spring 1921, Fall 1923 - Spring 1926, Spring 1927 - Spring 1930), C. H. Hiebert (Fall 1921 - Spring 1922), J. S. Wiebe (Fall 1922 - Spring 1923), Peter S. Schellenberg (Fall 1926), Peter Aron Rempel (Fall 1930 - Spring 1931, Fall 1939 - Spring 1941), Jacob N. Giesbrecht (Fall 1931 - Spring 1934), John Abram Pauls (Fall 1934 - Spring 1937), Martin James Hamm (Fall 1937 - Spring 1938), William Frank Derksen (Fall 1938 - Spring 1939, Fall 1944 - Spring 1946), Helen Wiebe (Fall 1941 - Spring 1942), Margaret Enns (Fall 1942 - Spring 1944), Gerald Harry Dyck (Fall 1946 - Spring 1947), Laura M. Porte (September-December 1947), Justine Reimer (January-June 1948), Jacob H. Janzen (Fall 1948 - Spring 1952), David F. Friesen (Fall 1952 - Spring 1955), John John Janzen (Fall 1955 - Spring 1959), Ben Donald Wiebe (Fall 1959 - Spring 1961), Henry Funk (Fall 1961 - Spring 1962), Leonard Clarence “Len” Peters (Fall 1962 - Spring 1965), Margaret Penner (Fall 1965 - Spring 1967), Louis Pokrant (Fall 1967 - Spring 1969), and Abraham Penner (Fall 1968 - Spring 1975).
A new school building was officially opened on 22 November 1957. It became part of the Stanley School Division (and later the Garden Valley School Division No. 26) and continued operation until summer of 1975.
