Historic Sites of Manitoba: Field of Honour Memorial (Brookside Cemetery, Winnipeg)

Located in Brookside Cemetery in the northwest corner of Winnipeg, this memorial honours the “sailors, soldiers and airmen of the Commonwealth who lie buried in Canada.” Brookside’s Field of Honour is the largest and oldest military interment site in Canada, with over 12,000 sites marked by a Military Grey Barrie granite upright monument. Opened in 1915, it is the site of many important military monuments.
