This two-storey dark red brick and Tyndall Stone trimmed, Commercial Italianate-style building was on Main Street in Winnipeg. Measuring 29.8 feet by 50 feet, it was built in 1906 by the Malcom Brothers Construction Company at a cost of about $5,000, for owner Simon Elliott (1856-1935). In its original configuration, the building contained a single retail space on the main floor which housed Simon's grocery business and a single residential apartment on the upper floor.
Subcontractors included Alsip Brick, Tile & Lumber Company Limited (bricks).
Later occupied by the Winnipeg Bag Company, owned by Ralph Zilberman (1903-1974), in 1941 a one-storey wood frame and sheet metal garage measuring 12 feet by 18 feet was added at a cost of about $100. The building was destroyed by fire on 26 January 1948, and the site is now occupied by a different building.
