Memorable Manitobans: John Young (1913-1991)Indigenous leader. Born at The Pas in 1913, he was active in politics on The Pas Reserve (now known as Opaskwayak Cree Nation) for over 50 years. He served as chief of The Pas band for many years and was a senator of the Manitoba Indian Brotherhood. He founded the McGillivray Care Home on the reserve.
