Memorable Manitobans: Frank “Frankie” White (1926-2007)

Boxer.

Born at Winnipeg on 19 October 1926, he began boxing at the age of nine and went to win provincial and Canadian titles, including a Featherweight Championship. He qualified for the 1948 Summer Olympics and represented Canada at the 1950 British Empire Games in New Zealand. He spent the majority of his working life at the Winnipeg International Airport, retiring in 1991. He died at Winnipeg on 19 October 2007.
