Memorable Manitobans: Ian Livingstone Reid (1931-2014)

Physician.

He practiced medicine at Selkirk for many years and developed a community health team and crisis centre, retiring in 1984. Active in his community, he organized a Block Parents group in Selkirk, served as President of the Canadian Water Ski Association, and founded a water ski museum. In 1983, he was inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame, Canadian Water Ski Hall of Fame, and Order of Canada. He also received the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Medal (2002) and Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012). He died at Winnipeg on 12 January 2014.
