Memorable Manitobans: John Peter Packota (1920-1994)

Educator.

Born at Cudworth, Saskatchewan on 1 May 1920, son of Peter Packota and Kathryn Dubyk, he was the Principal of Winnipegosis School (1945-1949), Balmoral School (1949-1950), Teulon School (1950-1951), and Gimli High School (1951-1954). He later moved to Winnipeg and then to Thunder Bay, Ontario where he served on the city council. He died at Vernon, British Columbia on 21 November 1994 and his cremains were placed in the All Saints Anglican Church Columbarium at Vernon.
