Journalist.
Born at Winnipeg around 1935, one of eight children of Patrick Joseph McAnulty (?-1948) and Caroline Mary Augusta Clarke (c1896-1978), he also lived at Winnipeg Beach and Flin Flon. He was a journalist at newspapers in Kirkland Lake, Guelph, and Ottawa before returning to Manitoba to work at the Winnipeg Free Press. Later he was a crime reporter at the Winnipeg Tribune until 1980. In an obituary, it noted that “his relentless pursuit of truth earned him the nickname “Mad Dog McAnulty,” and he was often seen running down Portage Avenue, briefcase in hand and tie flying in the wind.” After leaving the Tribune, he did freelance reporting. He died unmarried at Winnipeg on 28 March 2025.
