Memorable Manitobans: George Andrew Cox (1934-2003)

Chemist.

Born at Brandon on 19 April 1934, son of farmers Robert Cox (1884-1963) and Mary Leith Kiloh (1888-1950), he attended Brandon College. He worked at the Brandon Experimental Farm then spent 36 years at Manitoba Hydro, as a laboratory technician at the Brandon Generating Station and head chemist at the Selkirk Generating Station. He and wife Sheila Clark of Grandview had a daughter and a son. His interests included fishing, hunting, woodworking, photography, sports, and travel. He coached soccer, baseball, and hockey. He died at Selkirk on 26 July 2003 and was buried in the St. Clements Anglican Cemetery.
