Winnipeg Memorabilia Collectors Club

All are welcome to attend this free club, which is an initiative of MHS Affiliate Heritage Winnipeg. Anyone wanting further details about the club, which meets on the first Wednesday of each month, is invited to contact Cindy Sciberras at 942-2663 or Gary Becker at 256-5032.

If you collect any items relating to Winnipeg, or are just interested in them, then this could be the club for you:

Meetings are very informal and normally occur on the second Tuesday of each month. Members bring items that they collect for others to look at and discuss. It is a good place to learn about Winnipeg history, share tips, and make contacts for trading, buying, and selling items.

At a recent meeting, the items on display included copies of Manitoba Free Press (predecessor of today's Winnipeg Free Press) from 1875, military badges and posters, albums of interesting old photographs and postcards, posters made from historical photos, a 1910 linen-backed Winnipeg road map, currency issued in the 1880s by now long-defunct Winnipeg banks, commemorative albums, and an enormous blueprint of the Canadian Pacific Railway yards from the early 20th century. The people are friendly and eager to talk about local history. It's a lot of fun and the price (free!) is definitely right.
