Dalnavert is a great place for a Victoria tea party!

Your guests will enjoy a tour of the MHS Dalnavert Museum, a Victorian-inspired craft, and tea in fancy cups. The tour will take your party back in time where you and your guests will learn about Victorian rules of etiquette and the early days of Winnipeg. After the tour, guests will make their own Victorian-style craft before sitting down to tea.

The cost is $12 per guest with up to two adult supervisors accompanying free of charge. Any additional adults will be charged the price of admission into the museum. There is a minimum $50 charge for birthday parties. We can accommodate up to 14 guests (plus two adults) on Saturday afternoons.

Craft choices include:

  • Tussie Mussie (suggested age: 5 to 8) - tiny floral bouquets that were popular for ladies in the 1800s
  • Moustaches (suggested age: 5 to 12) - make own your handlebar moustache like a Victorian gent
  • Coat of Arms (suggested age: 5 to 10) - make your own coat of arms with symbols that represent who you are
  • Paper Hats (suggested age: 7 to 12) - make and decorate your own paper hat out of a reproduction 1895 newspaper
  • Paper Toys (suggested age: 8 to 12) - cut out and construct your own movable paper dolls and toys to take home
  • Fascinators or Brooches (suggested age: 9 to 12) - these decorative accessories make a beautiful accent to your tea party outfit

To book your birthday party, contact Jennifer Bisch, Chief Program Officer and Curator, with the following information:

  • requested date for party
  • number of guests / adult supervisors
  • age of guests
  • choice of craft
