Dalnavert is the restored 1895 home of Sir Hugh John Macdonald and an important part of Winnipeg and Canadian history. Guests enjoy a guided tour in which they learn about Victorian culture, what it was like to be an affluent family in 1895 and how a house like Dalnavert would have appeared when full of treasured objects.

For those wishing to use Dalnavert as a location of a Birthday Party there are these options:

Option 1

The Victorian Tea Party involves a simple etiquette lesson, and either napkin folding or making a calling card. The menu includes sandwiches, cucumber, bread and butter with sardines, celery stalks, pound cake and cambric tea (tea with a large portion of milk).

Option 2

Tea and Scones is a great party for kids who love to cook. Guests bake scones and learn to make the butter to serve with them. They are served with jam or marmalade and tea.

Option 3

For the creative child, our Craft Activity Party is a fun and exciting time for all. We have many activities to choose from; call us to discuss your options. No food is provided.

Every option includes a tour of Dalnavert. Birthday cakes are not provided but we welcome you to bring your own. Treat bags are also not provided, but a 10% discount in our well-stocked Dalnavert Gift Shop is offered.

Please contact Dalnavert staff for more information or to book a Birthday Party date.
